As a way of mitigating the Larimer community’s long standing designation as a food desert, Flourishing Communities is planning to build an Urban Farm Shop right at the busy Larimer Ave. in Larimer, Pittsburgh PA. We will turn this into a 365-day per year produce growing hub. With the support of the Larimer Consensus Group, we are currently identifying development partners and pursuing site control of designated parcels in Larimer. It is our hope that we will be able to break ground and open in 2025. Unique opportunity for this project is clustering with Larimer's Celebration Hall in co-operation with Food21 and with Steel City Squash, right across the street.
